The Caravan Club’s bookings for 2010 are looking exceptionally buoyant and a scorching summer is expected in terms of people going caravanning and having a great time. Easter is typically the time when caravanners unwrap their ‘vans and head off on their favourite caravan park holidays for a spot of rest and relaxation without the need to worry about rail or air travel strikes.
Caravan Club members spent over £400million in the rural tourism economy last year – a figure that looks set to increase this year. This is money that is spent on eating out, shopping, visiting local attractions and buying local produce – this amount does not include pitch fees. |

Green giant David Bellamy has paid a special tribute to the recycling policies of a Lakeland holiday park where even raindrops and the energy used to wash socks goes unwasted.
Professor Bellamy made his comments this month when he announced Skelwith Fold Caravan Park in Ambleside as the winner of his prestigious Conservation Award at its top gold level.
The park, he said, was already justly celebrated for its work to protect wildlife, including the successful reintroduction of red squirrels which recently won praise from the Prince of Wales.
But behind the scenes, said David Bellamy, Skelwith Fold had created "an incredible green blueprint" for businesses wishing to lessen their impact on the environment. |
