Normandy 2009 AppealOne of the MV forums I belong to is running a campaign together with the Normandy Veterans Association (NVA) to raise funds to get the surviving Normandy veterans out there for the 65th anniversary next year. These men are getting on in years and this may wel lbe the last time/chance many will have to revisit the scenes of their endeavours and, perhaps, say a final farewell to thier fallen comrades who lie in the many cemeteries. The NVA estimate they need to raise £300,000 to get all the UK's surviving eterans out there. The US and Canadian Gov'ts are funding the cost of the trip for their countries veterans but it may come as no surprise to learn the UK Gov't has refused to even contribute towards the trip. |
